Life changing decision?

All my life always wanted to be a orthopedic surgeon (very very tramatic accident at age 13) volunteer 15 hours a week. but I saw police take down a drunken man and I watch cops all the time! And I now want to become a police officer, I know those two salaries will be a huge difference. So someone give me some help:(?
