Can I get to the Shadow Temple without using the Nocturne of Shadow in Zelda 3D?

I Have played this game many times on the N64, and purchased the 3D remake for nostalgia. I wanted a chalenge, so I beat the Water Temple immeadiatly after becoming an adult (it is totally possible with just the hookshot and arrows, and then doing the Ice Cavern side quest). Anyway normally after your beat the Water Temple Kakariko Village is on fire and Sheik teaches you the song to warp above the Graveyard. But that never happened for me, even after completing the Forest and Fire Temples. Now I am stuck unable to get up the the opening of the temple, and unable to get the hover boots so that I can do the Spirit Temple. Can I get above the Graveyard without using the song?
